Audax Events

Audaxes are organised rides over a certain route within a time limit (they are not races!).  If you want to blast round the route, that’s fine but if you want to have a leisurely ride admiring the scenery, that’s even better!

They appeal to a wide range of riders and everyone is welcome regardless of ability or ambition. You don’t need to belong to any club or organisation to take part.  You can enter these events simply by following the links below. You may notice that, compared to most other cycling events,  audaxes cost very little to enter, rarely more than £10. Great value for a great day out on the bike.”

We are pleased to put on three events over the summer, all starting from Forfar.

Sunday 28 May:
1: The Mighty Sconquest: 100k (about 63 miles) of great Angus scenery, visiting two excellent cafés en route. Eating scones is not compulsory but is definitely encouraged! http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-129/

Sunday 3 September:
2: The Cycling Festival Century: a repeat of last years’ popular and successful 100 mile event. Hopefully this will again appeal to both seasoned cyclists and also those seeking the challenge of their first 100 mile ride. Again two (or more) cafe stops en route. http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-462/

3: The Cycling Festival 50 miles: Perhaps an ideal first audax for lots of people and, with a very relaxed time limit of 8 hours, there’s no need to be nervous about completing the route! http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-160/

If you want to find out more about audaxes in general, there’s lots of useful information here: http://www.aukweb.net/events/description/  and here: http://www.aukweb.net/events/riding/

Our friends in the other local cycling club, Angus CC., are also putting on a few excellent events from Forfar this summer, that will hopefully attract lots of interest.
Saturday 13 May: Pitlochry 150k ( about 94 miles): http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-536/

Saturday 10 June: Rannoch 210k (about 130 miles) http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-84/,  and

Same day 10 June: Glenisla 100k (about 63 miles) http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-209/

We hope to see lots of you on these great events over the summer. Any questions, contact alexabccc@gmail.com
