Balgay Criterium Race
Angus Bike Chain had one club member competing at the inaugural Criterium at Balgay Park in Dundee on Sunday. Martin Harris and David Martin were key local organisers involved in making this race happen.
The circuit, around a mile in length saw racers tackle the climb up to The Observatory, up to 20 times!
Ingrid Kidd finished 11th in the ladies race on a challenging circuit.

As well as the climb up to the observatory there was another stiff climb up to the finish line. 11th doesn’t give Ingrid’s performance the credit it deserves. She was right in the mix, many times through the line driving at the front of the bunch right up to the last lap. It was that last sprint up the drag to the finish that saw her drop to the back of the group.
Not too shabby at all and a very good test of her bunch riding and bike handling skills.
…in the wet as the photo shows. That’s why my hood is up!
Yeah great effort, I know Balgay well from running up there, it is not easy especially that kick up at the turn just before the Observatory.
