Angus Bike Chain Summer Cycle Series

April 27, 2015 Off By petef

Great news, we’ve got a calendar of mid-week cycle events now in place for across the Summer months.

It would be great to see you all along.

Pitched at all abilities, they are fun, challenging, easy or as hard as you like, competitive, non-competitive, whatever you want them to be!

There are no prizes (well maybe some spot prizes) for winning just the satisfaction of feeling tired after a good effort.

All events will take place on a Wednesday and start at 7PM, unless otherwise communicated, we ask that you arrive by 6:45PM at the latest so we can register your name.

Here are the dates and the locations, for definitions of the events see below:

20th May – TT – Location: Carmylie Hall – Distance: 8 Miles

3rd June – APR – Location: Carmylie Hall – Distance: 16 Miles

17th June – 2UP – Location: Carmylie Hall – Distance: 16 Miles

1st July – APR – Glen Clova Loop – Location: Gella Bridge Car Park – Distance: 26 Miles

Friday 3rd July – Drover’s Inn Social Event – Distance: TBC – (Beer, Bike & Food – not necessarily in that order)

29th July – APR – Location: Craichie – Distance: TBC

12th August – 10TT – Location: TBC – Distance: 10 Miles – We are hoping for a super accurate fast course to the inch or two!

It would be great if everyone could make the first event that way we can get an idea of your time to help us handicap correctly for the other events.

Definitions:

TT – Time Trial – Race against the clock, each rider goes off in 1 minute intervals,  basically pedal as fast as you can for a bit

APR – Australian Pursuit Race – Handicap event, riders are set off in groups of similar ability at set intervals and try not get caught by the faster groups in pursuit. Stay together or go it out alone, you decide

2UP – Basically a Time Trial but you do it with a mate, we’ll probably decide the pairings based on your previous times to even the field up

Hill Climb – You cycling up a hill either very fast or more likely very slowly…….

More details regarding exact start points will be sent out prior to the events.

For insurance purposes these events are open to members and prospective members only.

Looking forward to seeing you all.
