Knockburn Duathlon
Club member Joe Thompson made the short hop up the road for the Knockburn Duathlon racing under the dual colours of M3 Tri and Angus Bike Chain. The race consisting of two tricky off road runs legs of 4km and a technical bike segment of 20km is a stiff challenge. Congrats to Joe for completing the race. The Loch is a very scenic setting and I’d strongly recommend you to try out the facilities if you are ever in the area. The weather however was not as pictured last Sunday! Race results can be found here
Great stuff Joe. A bit different from hammering the exercise bike in the gym?
Thanks Peter for posting this mate! Thanks John, aye mate it was! hahaha
Well the day started off by snowing here then some of the way up the Cairn O’ Mount and I was wondering if I should’ve taken that route! Buut it was fine the car got up and over a’right. The venue is in a very nice setting and it wasn’t too cold when I arrived even with it snowing sparadically, aaaanyway a guid day’s racing I had!!!
It was a a bit of a gruel, but I completed it and that makes me a happy bunny! Even after the mud slide on the first lap of the run eh! hahahaha. I will be back to have another go and to conquer the climb just outside the gate of the loch and it just went up and up!!! Lol
I want to thank Euan as well because he gave me a loan of his Planet X, guid bike!!! I wonder if he’ll notice if I dinna gie him it back??? Hahahaha
Anyway, Onwards and Upwards!
Mon the ABC!!!
I tried finding some photos on the net but there wasn’t any, will keep an eye out. I did the course last year , it’s fairly gruelling for a short course race, the run was dry when I did it but was still leg zapping. You usually look to try and get a quick breather in the first 1km of the bike but with that hill it’s eyeballs out! Well done again.
