ABC Winter Duathlon Series – Round 1

ABC Winter Duathlon Series – Round 1

December 15, 2015 Off By petef

Round 1 of the ABC Winter Duathlon Series got underway at the weekend.

The event was fully subscribed with 150 competitors.

We had 104 entrants turn up on the day, possibly the cold and frosty weather put some people off (and the odd sniffle).

The run route took in two laps of the north pond, approx. 4km, the bike was a 21km loop, out towards Carmylie, then Craichie then back to the park via the Lucky Slap Junction. Competitors had to take in the climb by the mast always a tricky one.

Normally windy the competitors were spared.

Robert Harrison takes a lead of 41 seconds over Matthew Cockerell into the 2nd round in January, in 3rd a further minute plus behind is Ronan Anderson.

In the ladies event there is only 15 seconds separating the first 3 of Ashley Pearson, Laura Kent and Ingrid Kidd. The second round should be interesting though will favour the runners amongst the three.

Hope you all have a great Christmas and see you in the New Year, hoping for equally good weather though a little warmer would help, if its raining you can use your Ass Saver!
