Lanzarote 4 Stage MTB
Club member Peter Flick recently competed in the 4 stage mountain bike race in Lanzarote. The race based at Club La Santa attracts a mixed field of elites and top amateurs with over 450 entries.
The race consists of 4 stages over 4 days, 36km, 56km, a 21km time trial and a final stage of 91km in length.
The riding conditions are very different to the UK mixing sand, gravel and volcanic surfaces, the wind can also play a big factor as it did on stages 1 and 2 with 25mph head and crosswinds.
A close friend of the club, former member and elite, James Ouchterlony, was also competing though not at a competitive level this year due to injury.
The race offers outstanding value at €75 for the 4 stages. Prize money is on offer for each stage and the overall though the elites battle it out for this.
