Ingliston Crit Series – Race 1

The first of the Edinburgh RC Ingliston Crit races commenced on Thursday 1st May by Edinburgh Airport. Club members were entered into the 4th Cat race, the number of entries was quite large so they ended up splitting the races in 2.

The course was reduced in length due to some park cars, also the race length was reduced as an accident on the Forth Road Bridge delayed one of the officials. It was a long way to come for a such a short race however circumstances could not be helped.

With the shortened course and headwind on the main straight it made for a difficult nights racing with little opportunity to break away apart from the odd skirmish.

Respectable showings form Luis Coutinho 4th, Paul Cooper 5th and Peter Flick 7th. With Luis the only rider holding his position after the final turn where ABC were sitting in 1,3 and 4. The top riders form each heat get entered into the A race for subsequent weeks.
