    Folks,

    I have been monitoring the forum activity over the last few weeks or more so the lack of it. Out of the all the club meetings we held the number one thing that came out was the because the forum was down there was no communication and was adding to the problems…

    Now we have the new website and forum it is not being used. The occasional run / post is being posted however it seems that it is the same folk posting and commenting on in the whole forum. Some have never used it and some are not even registered (but were at the meetings and agreed it was required).

    The website and forum cost a fair bit of money and everyone at the meeting agreed that we needed it…SO LETS START USING IT!

    Completely agree Mark, although it will take time to get people back into visiting the webpage/forum and some may be visiting as unregistered I suppose.  I think we need to stick with it and develop all areas of the website as best we can, and those of us who do use the forum continue to do so in the hope that others will follow and to also show that we are committed to making things work!

    It is holiday time just now, so the lack of traffic in the past few weeks may be attributable to people being away…

    One thing I think needs to be posted is the time/date/venue of the presentation night and a discussion about getting the voting started for those awards which go to a membership vote – I have forgotten when it is (sorry) as the bit o’ paper I wrote it on has been chucked in the bin.

    Yip agree John.

    I have put the thread about the club night as a sticky on the General Discussion Forum, under this one! I will check to see if it is in the calendar.

    Will try and see if I can set up a voting thread/etc for trophies. Keep you posted on that.

    John – although I agree to an extent with your comments, I think in general the lack of use of the forum is a huge ‘slap in the face’ for the amount of work Mark put in to get it sorted!
    I was going to wait until I returned from holiday to comment, but another example of ‘reason’ for the club issues last year was the lack of midweek league – yet I started a thread weeks ago about next year, and only 4 people have seen fit to comment!!!!

    Just back from hols and although I had the ipad and could follow the forum the submit button has gone again (another iOS6 issue?). Agree that there seems to be little posting going on but I think there are still some teething issues and the forum could be more user friendly. It could/ should be much easier to check on particular threads and posts but for some reason the way ours is set up is not like other wordpress based forums (Monifieth Tri Club is the nearest similarity as Chris Kennedy set that one up too). To be fair though that club has a way bigger membership and their forum activity is less than we have had in recent weeks. Ours lacks an ‘Unread Posts Since Last Visit’ function and the posts that are there could be better presented and not need so many clicks and pages to get into them. As for the home page it says ‘Recent Posts’ but it shows the same 5. Can it be amended/ upgraded? Defo need to push signing up and getting things promoted Duathlon? Eventfull says it’s up and running (also full up) but not a word or link anywhere else it seems.

    As for getting galleries set up, get me some photos and I’ll have a play about but still finding my way about it.

    Ian Ryan was out with us today, cos he had seen the ride on the forum.  So keep posting!! 😎

    Not sure on submit button will look into it, but looks like its a compatibility issue, so prob have to wait a while till someone updates it!

    Have asked Chris for a “new posts since last visit” plugin to be added. Not sure how it will work but I guess it might highlight the posts you have not read yet.

    Recent topic box added to bottom of page, shows active topics and when they were last active.

    Re Monifieth Tri Forum – We decided at the meeting not to go for a forum like that and keep the different sections liek we had on the old one. This way posts are split up and are easily found again, whereas one list is very easy to lose somethings as they go down the list.

    The Discovery Club Forum has that ‘new unread posts’ feature and it’s the easiest way I find of catching up on new posts. Great idea about moving the log in. That bit was a pain to go back in and out but I just put that down to my PC ineptitude by not staying logged in or the website logging me out of one medium if I log in with another (phone/ ipad/ PC).

    Is Chris Kennedy the oneconnected to the COG Velo? Their website and discussion forum looks very familiar.

    I have tried different search engines on my Nexus tonight, google chrome the submit button disapears, Opera the submit button is there but i could not write text, third time lucky firefox appears to work, hope this is of help!
